Lorillard Tobacco Company hires Eichhorn & Eichhorn, LLP to pursue trademark infringement claims
David Jensen, Matt Ver Steeg, and Nick Brunette are prosecuting two federal trademark infringement cases for Lorillard Tobacco Company. The cases are against two cigarette retailers located in Dyer, Indiana. The defendants were selling counterfeit cigarettes which looked nearly identical to Lorillard's Newport cigarettes, the company's most popular brand. Counterfeit cigarettes were found at the defendants' stores in April, 2010, and were again found during a court-authorized seizure. Injunctive relief and damages are being sought through the Lanham Act, federal legislation aimed at curbing trademark infringement.
Lorillard Tobacco Company is based in Greensboro, North Carolina, and is the oldest and third largest cigarette manufacturer in the United States.
